Ram Raksha Stotram Meaning
**************************

OM, Salutations to Lord Ganesh.

The author of this hymn is budhakaushika . The god is sitaaraamachandra . The
metre is
anushTubh. The power is sitaa, central pivot is hanumaan.h and usage is to
recite.

Thus begins the dhyaana of this mantra -
one should meditate raama who has arms reaching his knees, who is holding a
bow and arrow,
who is seated in a lotus position, who is wearing yellow clothes, whose eyes
compete with
petals of a fresh lotus, who looks satisfied, whose eyes are fixed on
lotus-like (pretty)
face of sitaa sitting in his left lap, whose color is like that of rain cloud,
who has
adorned different jewelery, who is wearing hair reaching upto his thighs.

The life story of Shri RAma has a vast expanse and each and every letter of it
is capable of destroying even the greatest sins of mankind . ;

Let us meditate on the lotus-eyed, dark-complexioned Rama who is well-
adorned with a crown of hair and has Sita and Lakshmana alongside.

(Let us meditate raama)
who has a sword in a receptacle and bow, and arrows,
who destroyed the demons, who is not born but is incarnated
to protect the world with his actions .

May the learned read the Ramaraksha `stotram', which destroys all sins and
grants all desires . (Begin listing details of the body to be protected)
May raama who is raghu's descendant protect my head . May raama who is
dasharatha's son protect my forehead .

May the lord raama who is kausalyaa's son, protect my eyes . raama who is
favorite
of vishvaamitra protect my ears . raama who is savior of yaGYa protect my nose.
raama who is affectionate to lakshmaNa protect my mouth .

May the raama who is a sea of knowledge protect my tongue.
May raama who is saluted by bharata protect my neck.
May raama who holds divine weapons protct my two shoulders.
May raama who broke shiva's bow protect my two upper arms.

May the rama who is the husband of sitaa protect my two hands.
May raama who conquered parashuraama protect my heart.
May raama who killed rakshasa named khara protect my abdomen.
May raama who gave refuge to jambavad.h protect my navel .

May raama who is master of sugrIva protect my waist.
May raama who is master of hanumaama protect my two hips.
May raama who is the best of raghus and who destroyed the
lineage of raakshasa protect my two thighs .

May raama who built the bridge protect my two knees.
May raama who killed ten faced ones protect my two shins.
May raama who gave the wealth to bibhIshhaNa protect my two feet.
Thus may he protect my entire body .

May the good man who readeth this `stotra', which has all the power of
Rama, be blessed with long life, happiness, children, success and humility .

No one, who is wandering below the earth or on the earth
or above the earth or those who wander surreptitiously changing
their forms, will even be able to see the man
protected by raamanaama . (let alone bring any harm to him).

No sin can attach to the man who singeth the praise of the lord and he will
prosper in this world and get salvation .

One who wears this mantra of raama naama that has conquered the world
around his neck will have all the powers at his beck and call .

He who wears this armour called vajrapa.njara will be unscathed and will win
victory everywhere.

Budhakaushika was commanded in his dream by Lord Shiva to compose this hymn
and he did so, as soon as he awoke in the morning .

Rama, who grants all desires, removes all obstacles and is the praise
of all three worlds, is our `Lord' indeed.

May the two brothers ever protect us, who are young, handsome, lotus-eyed
and bark and deer-skin dressed .

These two sons of Dasharatha, the brothers Rama and Lakshmana,
the ones who are subsisting on roots and fruits and practicing
penance and celibacy, these two scions of Raghu protect us, the foremost among the
archers, the destroyers of the demons and the refuge of all beings,
(may they) protect us

Rama and Lakshmana (both), their bows pulled and ready, their hands on the arrows (packed) in ever full quivers (carried on their backs), may they
always escort me in my path, for my protection

Ever prepared and armed with sword, shield and bows and arrows and
followed by Lakshman , Rama is like our cherished thoughts come to life,
may he (along with Lakshman) protect us .

Rama, the scion of Raghu and the son of Dasaratha and Kausalya, and ever ,
accompanied by Lakshmana, is all powerful and is the perfect man (Lord).

The rama, who is perceived thru vedaanta, who is lord of all yaGYa,
is ancient and the best man who is beloved of jaanakii and whose
bravery is unmeasurable .

My devotee(says Lord Shiva),
who recites these (names of raama) with faith, will attain more religious
merit than one obtainable by horse-sacrifice . There is no
doubt about it .

Those who sing the praise of Raama (who is lotus-eyed, dark-complexioned and
dressed in yellow clothes) thro' this hymn, are (no longer) ordinary men
trapped in the world (they get liberated!) & nbsp; & nbsp;

I salute that Rama who is handsome,
the elder brother of Lakshmana, the
husband of Sita and the best of the scions of the Raghu race, Him who is
the ocean of compassion, the stockpile of virtues, the beloved of the
Brahmans and the protector of Dharma, Him who is the practiser of the
Truth, the lord emperor of kings, the son of Dasaratha, dark-complexioned and
the personification of Peace and tranquillity, Him who is the enemy of
Ravana, the crown jewel of the Raghu dynaty and the
cynosure of all eyes .

I salute that Rama who is benevolent and cool as moon, and who is the lord
of Sita and the master guardian of all.

I surender to that Rama who is the delight of the Raghus, elder brother of
Bharata and the tormentor of his enemies in the war .

The two feet of Rama, I remember them in my mind, I praise them by
my speech, I bow to them by my head I take resort in them!

Rama is (like) my mother, father, master and friend, indeed the kind-hearted
Rama is all I have . I know of no other (like him), (I really) don't!

I salute that Rama who has Lakshmana on his right and Sita on the
left and who has Hanuman in his front.

I take refuge in that Rama who is quite pleasing to the sight, the master of
the stage of war, lotus-eyed, lord of the Raghu race and compassion-
personified.

I take refuge in the lord Hanuman who is as fast as the mind, equals his
father, the wind-God, in speed, is the master of the senses, the foremost
amongst the learned, the leader of the Monkey forces and the great messenger
of Shri Rama.

I salute the great sage Valmiki who sings the glorious name of Rama
resorting to his Ramayana as sweetly as a cuckoo will sing sitting atop a
tree .

I bow again and again to Ram who removes all obstacles and
grants all wealth and pleases all.

The roar of the Ramanama is the destruction of the cause of rebirth (hence
cause of liberation), the earning of all
wealth and a scare to Yama's messengers .

Rama, the jewel among the kings, Him I worship, by Him
the hordes demons have been destroyed, to him is said my prayer,
beyond Him there
is nothing to be worshipped, His servant I am, my mind is totally absorbed
in Him, O Ram, please lift me up.
This verse gives all the seven declensions of the singular
word raama and gives one way of remembering them!

O fair-faced Parvati! I enjoy saying raama raama.
Uttering but once the name `Rama' is equal to the
uttering of any other `name' of God, a thousand times .

Hong Saw Meditation

This is simple a technique of observing the breath. The incoming and the outgoing breath are closely observed through out the period of inhalation and exhalation. No attempt is made to alter the rate of breathing. The natural rhythm is kept and the breath is seemed to slow by itself. The word Hong is synchronized with incoming breath and word Saw is synchronized with outgoing breath. One should not miss a single breath and synchronizing should be uniformed thought the length of the breath with the corresponding sounds of Hong and saw. You can do this any amount of time.

Soham Meditation Technique

The Soham Meditation Technique At the time and in the place where you feel most comfortable, place your body in the position that you have found to be the most beneficial for meditation. Close your eyes. Close your ears by putting your thumbs in them, or by using earplugs. This will intensify the sound of your breath while diminishing the distractions that sight and sound bring. Command your mind to be silent, your emotions to be calm, and your body to stay relaxed. Focus on the sound of your breath coming in. Associate it with the word So. As your breath leaves, listen to the sound and associate it with the word Ham. To pronounce So and Ham correctly, listen to how they sound. As with most pranayama (breathing techniques), Soham is done either in 3 cycles of 12 or 12 cycles of 12. One inhalation and one exhalation are one respiration. 12 respirations are one cycle. For those just starting to use this technique, it is usual to silently say the word So with each inhalation and the word Ham with each exhale. When you are focused consistently, consciously, you will flow into simply listening to the sound of Soham. Soham is by far the easiest meditation. It comes to all living creatures without any effort. And yet it is the deepest possible technique, as it presents the opportunity to meditate on the great mystery of life and the life-giver itself. No matter how we have acted and reacted, with each breath we are forgiven for our so-called sins and rewarded with another breath, another heartbeat, and another moment of life to cherish. No act of will on our part can give us breath. Literally, we are graced with this gift of life from a power greater than ourselves. A corpse has every bone, every organ, and every bodily system that we have, and yet it doesn't have life or healing energy filling every cell with every breath, as we have. As you merge more and more with Soham, you surrender your reactivity to your thoughts, emotions, and sensory impressions. These are all just heavy earth-bound suffering-causing limitations. The divine energy of Soham is limitless heavenly love and light. Witness, surrender all effort, and fill with this most precious gift of Grace.

Gibberish and Let-Go Meditation

Gibberish and Let-Go
"Gibberish is to get rid of the active mind, silence to get rid of the inactive mind and let-go is to enter into the transcendental." Osho

First Stage: Gibberish
While sitting, close your eyes and begin to say nonsense sounds – any sounds or words, so long as they make no sense. Just speak any language that you don't know! Allow yourself to express whatever needs to be expressed within you. Throw everything out. The mind thinks, always, in terms of words. Gibberish helps to break up this pattern of continual verbalization. Without suppressing your thoughts, you can throw them out. Let your body likewise be expressive.

Second Stage: Moving In
After some minutes of Gibberish, there is a drumbeat, at which point the Gibberish stops. Osho’s voice then guides the listener into a space of deep silence, stillness and relaxation, saying, for example, “Be silent, close your eyes...no movement of the body – feel frozen. Go inwards, deeper and deeper, just like an arrow. Penetrate all the layers and hit the center of your existence.”

Third Stage: Let-Go
Another drumbeat and, without arranging yourself, just allow yourself to fall down "like a bag of rice," so you are lying, utterly still and relaxed, on your back as you are guided even more deeply into a silent stillness.

Fourth Stage: Coming Back
At the final drumbeat, Osho’s voice guides you back to a sitting position, with the reminder to carry the glimpse of silent awareness one may have had into everyday activities.
To participate, here’sa sample meditation (14 mins) If you go to the Downloadable Osho Audiobooks page and follow the links to the Catalog page and select "Order Spoken: From Recent" you will find all the talks from "Live Zen" to "The Zen Manifesto: Freedom from Yourself" have guided Gibbersish and Let Go Meditations at the end.
“Remember, the first step of the meditation is Gibberish. Gibberish simply means throwing out your craziness, which is already there in the mind, piled up for centuries. As you throw it out you will find yourself becoming light, becoming more alive, just within two minutes. You will be surprised that when Nivedano [the drummer] gives his second beat, to enter into silence, you enter into silence as deeply as you have never done before. Just those two minutes have cleaned the way. In fact in those two minutes, if you put your total energy ... the more you put into it, the deeper will be the following silence.Any child can do Gibberish, it doesn´t need any training. From the very first moment you are almost trained. Gibberish needs no training, nor does laughter need any training. If you can do Gibberish you are cleansing your mind of all kinds of dust that goes on gathering. And as the mind becomes silent...there is nowhere to go other than inwards. All roads are forgotten; there remains a single one-way traffic.Just for a day or two you may hesitate to go that much inside. Who knows whether you will be able to come back or not? It is a playful, joyful exercise. There is nothing to be worried about, you can go as deep as you want… not knowing Chinese but speaking Chinese, not knowing what they are saying but saying it very emphatically, not bothering at all who is listening.... Nobody is listening, so you can say anything you want, you are not going to offend anybody. There is nobody other than you. That will make you saner than you have ever been, because you throw so much garbage that you were holding. Do you think your gibberish is coming from the sky? You are carrying all that garbage, throw it! Just do it totally, enthusiastically. Don´t be bothered whether it is Arabic or Hebrew or Chinese; you are allowed to speak any language that you don´t know. Just avoid the language that you do know, because the language that you do know will not bring your nonsense out, it will be very grammatical. Meaning is not at all the requirement. Just for two minutes give an opportunity to your existence to be meaningless. And you will be immensely shocked to know that just within two minutes you become so light, so ready to enter into silence.”

Controlling Mind!

You have lived in a certain way up to now - don't you want to live in a different way? You have thought in a certain way up to now - don't you want some new glimpses in your being? Then be alert and don't listen to the mind.Mind is your past constantly trying to control your present and your future. It is the dead past which goes on controlling the alive present. Just become alert about it.But what is the way? How does the mind go on doing it? The mind does it with this method: it says, "If you don't listen to me, you will not be as efficient as I am." If you do an old thing you can be more efficient because you have done it before. If you do a new thing you cannot be efficient. The mind goes on talking like an economist, an efficiency expert; it goes on saying, "This is easier to do. Why do it the hard way? This is the way of least resistance."Remember, whenever you have two things, two alternatives, choose the new one. Choose the harder, choose the one in which more awareness will be needed. At the cost of efficiency always choose awareness, and you will create the situation in which meditation will become possible. These are all just situations. Meditation will happen - I am not saying that just by doing them you will get to meditation, but they will be helpful. They will create the necessary situation in you, without which meditation cannot happen. Be less efficient but more creative. Let that be the motive. Don't be bothered too much about utilitarian ends. Rather, constantly remember that you are not here in life to become a commodity. You are not here to become a utility, that is below dignity. Your are not here just to become more and more efficient. You are here to become more and more alive; you are here to become more and more intelligent; you are here to become more and more happy, ecstatically happy. But that is totally different from the ways of the mind.Whenever we are faced with a problem, we naturally begin to worry. This worry makes us have a lot of waste thoughts. We don't find the solution, yet we can't stop worrying. A worried mind filled with waste thoughts cannot find the right solution. The only way to find the right solution is to keep the mind free from worry. For this we need to first have the faith that there is a solution and we will find it. When we thus keep our mind free, our intuition works well and we are automatically able to take the right decision.

Fear !

"Drop the fear. Fear was taken up by you in your childhood, unconsciously. Now consciously drop it and be mature. Then the life can be a light which goes on deepening as you go on growing"

"A man who is afraid of death will be afraid of life also, because life brings death. If you are afraid of the enemy and you close your door, the friend will also be prohibited"

The Great Compassion!

I HAVE HEARD about a very great Zen Master who had become very old and almost blind at the age of 96... and he was no longer able to teach or work about the monastery. YAMAMOTO was his name. The old man then decided it was time to die because he was of no use to anybody; he could not be of any help. So he stopped eating. When asked by his monks why he refused his food, he replied that he had outlived his usefulness and was only a bother to everybody. They told him, 'If you die now" – it was January – "when it is so cold, everybody will be uncomfortable at your funeral and you will be an even greater nuisance... so please eat!' This can happen only in a Zen monastery, because DISCIPLES LOVE THE MASTER SO DEEPLY – THEIR RESPECT IS SO DEEP THAT THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANY FORMALITY.Just see what they are saying: they are saying, 'If you die now and it is January... See, it is so cold, everybody will be uncomfortable at the funeral and you will be an even greater nuisance... so please eat!' He thereupon resumed eating. But when it became warm again, he stopped... and not long after... quietly toppled over and died.Such compassion! One lives then for compassion... one dies then for compassion. One is even ready to choose a right time to die... so that nobody is bothered and one need not be a nuisance.
